Novy Nida Ramos was born and grew up in San Pascual, Batangas. She entered Canada, particularly Ottawa, through the Live-in Caregiver Program in 1993. After fulfilling the requirements of the program and having earned Permanent Resident status, she sponsored her whole family and they were able to join her in Ottawa in 1997. Novy has three children and six beautiful grandchildren.

Novy is a certified midwife and earned a Personal Support Worker at Health Aid Center of Ottawa. She took a computer technician course at Herzing College, also in Ottawa.

Very active in the Filipino-Canadian community in Ottawa, Novy is a member of the Ala eh group, a community association, and was a member of the Ottawa Dance Group.  A religious Catholic, she is one of the Council of Elders of the El Shaddai Prayer Partners Foundation and is a member of the Assumption Church choir. She loves cooking and occasionally provides catering service to her friends.
