Board of Directors

It is the vision of the Philippine Centre for Canada (PCC) to build a strong Filipino-Canadian community contributing to building a better Canada with a mission of supporting the Filipino-Canadians in becoming an integral part of Canadian society by providing programs and services that meet their aspirations and needs and promote pride in Filipino heritage. As such, it is looking for Board Members who will be committed and passionate in fulfilling its vision and mission.

The following are the General Job Responsibilities of a Board Member.
•Regularly attends board meetings and important related meetings, and contributes in the thinking process, deliberation and decision making of the whole board.
•Makes serious commitment to participate actively in committee work, programs and projects.
•Volunteers for and willingly accepts assignments and completes them thoroughly and on time.
•Stays informed about committee matters, prepares themselves well for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports.
•Gets to know other committee members and builds a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus.
•Is an active participant in the committee’s annual evaluation and planning events.
•Participates in fund raising for the organization.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
•Have had experience volunteering to do work for a community in whatever capacity.
•Strong organization skills, able to manage multiple priorities – professional work and community work.
•Proven interpersonal skills to interact effectively within and external to the organization.
•Has the knowledge and skills to lead program or project committees that may be assigned by the organization.
•Can use and share his/her professional field of expertise for the advancement of PCC’s programs and projects.
•Have had experience in governance, management and operations of a non-profit organization (preference), or has the aptitude for them given current and past work experience.
•Ability to work and collaborate with teams.

About the Person:
•Will have the passion and commitment to deliver the vision and mission of PCC with a strong bias towards action to make things happen.
•Will just not have the time but will give time to get involved actively in the activities of the organization.
•Perseverance amidst challenges and has a general positive outlook.

Qualifications:
•Eligible to work in Canada.
•Has attended secondary school.
•A member of the Filipino-Canadian community or anybody regardless of cultural background who has a genuine desire to serve the Filipino-Canadian community and who is appreciative of its culture, heritage and ethnicity.
•Of good moral character.
