Maureen (‘Maui’) Carlos holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Carleton University in Ottawa. She is currently a paralegal student at Algonquin College and will be graduating in the spring of 2023. She hailed from Las Piñas City and migrated to Canada with her family in 2015. During her time in the Philippines, she studied at the De La Salle- Santiago Zobel College with a scholarship.

Maureen’s interests include legal research and advocacy in the criminal justice system. She hopes that with help of her degree and post-graduate certificate, she can work as a provincial prosecutor after she gets her paralegal license.

Maureen has volunteered for the PCC in 2021, and her duties include, handling PCC’s social media accounts, and helping seniors in learning how to use a tablet. Maureen is thankful to the PCC for giving her this new and exciting role as Board Secretary and she hopes that through this role, she can help the Filipino-Canadian community and be one of its good members.
