Marion Villanueva
Co-Vice Chairperson
Marion Maceda Villanueva, the newly elected Co-Vice Chairperson, is a dedicated community development advocate with a wealth of experience. She holds an undergraduate degree in Social Work and a graduate degree in Community Development from the University of the Philippines. Marion, along with her husband Johnny (Antonio Villanueva) and their two daughters, moved to Canada in 1985 and settled in Ottawa in 1989.
Marion began her career by working with non-governmental organizations in Toronto and Ottawa. Her work eventually took her to Manila and Davao in the Philippines from 2001 to 2013, to Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean from 2015 to 2017, a nd recently to Jamaica from January to July 2023. In these roles, she served as the Director of multiple Canada-funded projects focused on strengthening the capabilities of local governments.
Marion has been an active member of the Filipino-Canadian community in Ottawa for decades and is passionate about fostering a united and empowered community. Marion is committed to supporting her fellow Filipinos, promoting Filipino heritage, and ensuring that the community is recognized for its valuable contributions to building a better Canada.
Marion has a longstanding involvement with the PCC, having served on its first Board of Directors in 1999. She was re-elected to the Board in 2018 and briefly took on the role of acting Chairperson for a period of 9 months in 2020. With her vast experience, dedication, and passion, Marion brings valuable expertise and leadership to her role as co-Vice Chairperson of the PCC.
