Manuel (Manny) Beloy Jr
Member
Manuel (Manny) Beloy, Jr. hails from Nasugbu, Batangas and speaks Tagalog other than the dialect, Batangueno. After receiving his certificate in Associate in Nautical Science from Feati University in Manila in 1973, he worked for ten years as a seaman in a foreign vessel. He joined his wife of 30 years in Canada in 1991, which makes him one of the earlier Filipino residents in Ottawa. Manny currently works at the Brunei High Commission in Ottawa as its local property caretaker.
With his wife, Yola, Manny has been an active volunteer in the Filipino-Canadian community in Ottawa. Some of his volunteer work included being a member, player, and later President of the Philippine Basketball Association of Ottawa (1991-2008) and as Liturgical Coordinator of St. Brigid Church in Lower Town of Ottawa (1995 to 2006). Since 2007, he volunteered as Liturgical Coordinator and Community Relations Officer of the Our Lady of Assumption parish as well as Deputy Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus of the San Lorenzo Council. And since 1995, he and his wife have been active members of the Couples for Christ (CfC) in Ottawa and was for some years served as Coordinator of the fund-raising arm of CfC in Canada – the ANCOP (Answering the Cry of the Poor) . He also served as household leader of the CfC, and is the current Coordinator of the Gift of Life ministry of CfC.
