Amelita Armit
Member
Amelita (Ami) Armit is a public administration professional, now retired, after more than thirty-five years of service as a senior executive in various positions including Assistant Deputy Minister in the Alberta and federal governments and President and CEO of the Parliamentary Centre. She is an ardent advocate for promoting Filipino talent through community engagement, having served as a Board Member of Algonquin College, the City of Ottawa Public Library, the Institute of Public Administration of Canada and as the first Chair of Philippine Centre Canada. She volunteered as a facilitator with the Ottawa Citizenship Committee and with the Diversity in Leadership Program of Volunteer Ottawa.
Ami is a graduate of the University of the Philippines (BSBA,1966) and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (MPA,1979). She moved to Canada from Manila in 1968 and lived in Edmonton before moving to Ottawa in 1987, where she continues to pursue her interests in lifelong learning, travel, nature walks, painting and the performing arts.
