General Community Outreach and Communication Through Meetings with Key Filipino Organizations

December 1, 2018

The Philippine Centre Canada believes that reaching out to various Filipino organizations in the National Capital Region is an important step to help fulfill its mission of supporting Filipino-Canadians in becoming an integral part of Canadian society. According to Nena Nera, former PCC Board Chairperson (?), the PCC has prioritized establishing relationships with key Filipino groups, such as the Ottawa Valley Filipino-Canadian Seniors Citizens Association (OVFCSCA), Philippine Independence Committee of Ottawa Valley (PICOV), Pinoys on Parliament (POP), Ilocano Ngarud Society of Ottawa, Assumption Parish Church, and new immigrants. Meeting with these key organizations has allowed the PCC to determine the scope of challenges that Filipino-Canadians face, which will help the PCC to better support them through corresponding programs and services.
