Systemic Racism Toward Immigrants, Finding Solutions in the Healthcare Sector

Join us on Thursday, March 21st, 2024, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm for a virtual forum on “Systemic Racism Toward Immigrants: Finding Solutions in the Healthcare Sector”. This event will shed light on the challenges faced by immigrants in the healthcare industry and explore potential solutions to address systemic racism.

Our esteemed panelists include Sahar Zohni, Manager of Operations, Planning, and Performance at the national newcomer navigation network. With a wealth of experience in pediatrics and healthcare administration, Sahar has worked tirelessly to improve the experience of newcomers in navigating Canada’s complex health and social services. Her insights and expertise will provide valuable perspectives on the issue at hand.

We are also privileged to have Jennifer Lopez, a registered nurse and Canadian Professional Development Chair of Integrated Filipino Canadian Nurses Association (IFCNA), as a panelist. Jennifer’s personal journey as a foreign educated nurse navigating the Canadian healthcare system will offer a unique and insightful perspective on the challenges faced by immigrants in the industry.

Additionally, Lota Bertulfo, a seasoned international development consultant with extensive experience working across multiple countries, will share her experiences of advocating for immigrant communities globally.

The objective of this event is to foster a discussion on the systemic racism and barriers faced by immigrants in the healthcare sector, with a specific focus on internationally educated healthcare professionals. By highlighting the experiences and expertise of our panelists, we aim to raise awareness about the challenges faced by immigrants in accessing healthcare opportunities and explore actionable solutions to promote equity and inclusion in the industry.
