“This week I had the honour of meeting an amazing woman from the Philippines, Teresita “Ging” Quintos-Deles. She was a witness who testified before the Subcommittee on International Human Rights (which I Chair) as part of our study on women human rights defenders. Then I had an opportunity to hear her speak again at an event at the University of Ottawa hosted by the board of the Philippine Centre Canada and the Filipino Students Association. Her courage and determination to stand up for women and against human rights abuses is inspiring.”
