Pinoys on Parliament 2020: Magkasama
Pinoys on Parliament (POP) hosted its second annual national youth leadership conference from February 21-23, 2020. The conference was held in several locations- the Horticulture Building, Ottawa Art Gallery, and the University of Ottawa. The participants doubled in size from the previous year, with 204 Filipino-Canadian youth (17 to 28 years old) attending from six provinces and two territories.
POP’s theme this year was “Magkasama” (meaning “Together”), supported by their objective to connect Filipino-Canadian youth from across Canada with opportunities in politics, STEM, arts, and other diverse fields through themed panels and workshops. The delegates had the opportunity to continue building relationships after the conference through POP’s 6-month Mentorship Program.
The Philippine Centre Canada’s financial support for the second year in a row has allowed POP 2020 to host three panels, a range of workshops, and many other events where youth could network with one another and leaders in various fields. The PCC wished the POP leadership continued success in their purpose of enhancing opportunities in various fields for Filipino youth across Canada.
