Five Board members – Adonis Sucalit, Charito Babol, Elle Galupo, Jerica Gelle Mariano, and Lota Bertulfo – represented the PCC in the official reception by the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa led by Philippine Ambassador Andrelita S. Austria.  Held last June 14 at the Philippine Embassy, the event was the first since 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic started.  It was a well-attended event with representatives of various Filipino-Canadian organizations, the diplomatic corps, and Canadian officials gracing the event.  Ambassador Austria noted positive developments in Philippine-Canada relations such as Canada’s choosing to establish its Indo-Pacific Agriculture Office in Manila and including the Philippines in its Electronic Travel Authorization Program. Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs MP Oliver Oliphant and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Development Anita Vanderbeld noted the cordial relations between Canada and the Philippines which will mark its 75th year in 2024.
