PCC 2018 Annual General Meeting
The Philippine Centre Canada held its Annual General Meeting at the Dominican University College on December 2, 2018. Chairperson Rafael Mamaril presented the annual report, which highlighted PCC’s activities and accomplishments for the year. Ami Armit, Chair of the Nominations Committee, conducted the Nominations and Elections of Directors. To comply with PCC bylaws, which state that there must be a minimum of 11 and a maximum of 17 Board members, at least four new directors must be elected. All six nominees were elected to the Board of Directors, driven by the need for “new faces and fresh voices” during this period of transition and renewal. The newly elected Board members were: Ringo Morella, Robert Parungao, Urduja Carino, Ernesto Cordero, Lhori Webster and Eddie Villarta.
A Salo-Salo (‘Eating Together’) and Entertainment Program took place after the meeting, with various performances by the Filipino Students Association of the University of Ottawa (Tagalog Christmas carol), Shirley Xuan (Chinese classical dance), Paolo Nera (ukulele solo), and Noah de Mel (tap dance). PCC wishes to thank everyone who attended the Annual General Meeting, including the performers and volunteers led by Nora Lezada-Cote and Rafael Mamaril, who decorated Albert Hall in the spirit of the holiday season.
