UPDATE ON PCC’S YOUTH CIVIC ENGAGEMENT LAB: ACTIVITIES NOW OPEN TO VISIBLE MINORITIES, 15-30YEARS OLD

             

The Filipino-Canadian Youth Civic Engagement Lab is now the YOUTH CIVIC
ENGAGEMENT LAB (YCEL) and invites youths who are:
– Between 15 and 30 years old,
– Canadian citizens,
– Permanent residents,
– Has refugee status.

Youths of Filipino heritage and from the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC)
communities, LGBTQIA2S+, persons with disabilities, newcomers in Canada are
strongly encouraged to apply.

As a participant of the project, you will participate in:
a TRAINING-WORKSHOP on CIVIC ENGAGEMENT (November 10-12, 2023)
a TRAINING-WORKSHOP on PROJECT PROPOSAL-MAKING
(TBD in Nov 2023)

Youths will get to:
– Enhance their civic engagement knowledge and learn the fundamentals of
project proposal making.
– Meet new friends.
– Develop confidence and their leadership, critical thinking, and
communication skills.

These training-workshops are for FREE!
Youths will also have the opportunity to get their community-focused projects funded
through a micro-grant of up to $5,000.

The PCC is the proud implementer of the FCYCEL- a program which aims to empower
youths of Filipino heritage in Canada through the enhancement of their awareness on
the importance of civic engagement. Being engaged in community affairs is a means for
the youth to contribute to the progress of the Filipino Canadian community and
Canadian society as a whole. The PCC acknowledges the financial support of the
Government of Canada through the Canada Service Corps for this program.
