Ethel Maamo

Ethel Maamo is currently serving as the Project Coordinator of the “Capacity-building of PCC in Governance, Fund-raising, and Partnership-building” project funded by the Canadian Heritage through its Community Support, Multiculturalism, and Anti-Racism Initiative (CSMARI) program. In this role, she organizes and facilitates activities for the strengthening of PCC’s capacity to deliver programs and services to the Filipino-Canadian community in the National Capital Region.

Ethel is a passionate advocate of inclusivity and the rights of disadvantaged groups, such as those with disabilities and marginalized racial communities. Her dedication to creating a more inclusive society stems from her educational background and personal experiences. Ethel has a degree in Development Communications and Social Psychology and is currently pursuing her M.A. in Transformative Leadership and Spirituality at Saint Paul University’s School of Leadership, Ecology, and Equity. This program equips her with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead and inspire positive change within communities.

Drawing from her upbringing in the Philippines and Papua New Guinea, as well as her work experience in Nepal, she believes that everyone possesses the power to tap into their inner creativity. As she says, “We need to trust our wings and access the angel within.” With a firm belief in the potential within each individual, Ethel encourages others to trust their own abilities and nurture the inner strengths. She understands that by embracing our unique talents and strengths, we can make a meaningful impact in the world around us.
